New Kingdom Hall to be built in city suburb

A NEW Kingdom Hall for Jehovah’s Witnesses is to be created in Sheffield.

It is to be built on the site of a former Kingdom Hall and working men’s club on Gleadless Road over seven days, with the project starting on Saturday, September 22.

The building work will the continue on Wednesday, September 26 until Sunday, September 30. Work has already been done to prepare the site for the new hall, which will hold 200 people at any one time.

A Jehovah’s Witness spokesman said: “The former Kingdom Hall was used for decades as a place of worship and previously as a working men’s club.

“Many have fond memories of the hall, but it was no longer fit for purpose and detracted from the natural beauty of the area.

“Over the past few months, the site has been prepared for the new hall, which will have a meeting capacity for over 200. It will be built and fitted-out over a busy seven days.

“The financial cost of the project is in the region of £300,000 predominantly funded by voluntary donations from the local congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

“We are very grateful for all the willing volunteers that are helping us to build this excellent new place of worship.

“The new Kingdom Hall will be a centre for free Bible education and a hub for preaching and teaching the good news of God’s Kingdom in the local community.

“We would like to thank our neighbours for their patience and words of encouragement during the building work.”

An open day is to be held once the Kingdom Hall is complete.
