Three cheers for this new Scout group – which was set up after enough adult volunteers came forward to run it.

Five new Scouts have joined the Beavers and Cubs at 219th Sheffield Stradbroke group, which meets at Stradbroke School.

Scout leader Andy Reynolds said: “It’s always a problem to get leaders but at the moment we have a few parents who are coming in and being helpers.

“We still need as many helpers as we can get because if we want to go on trips in the future, it’s a case of the more the merrier. The more volunteers we have, the more fun we’ll be able to have.

“A lot of people are under the impression that they have to have kids in Scouts to be a volunteer but anyone can come and help.”

One of the group’s recent activities was taking part in a Skype hook-up with a Scout group in Australia, which is coincidentally also called the 219th Stradbroke Scout Group.

The Beavers and Cubs meet on Wednesdays from 3.30pm to 5pm. The Scouts meet later from 6.15pm to 8pm.

Call Andy on 07753 749155 to get involved.
