Edale Mountain Rescue team had to help an injured paraglider from Sheffield

A paraglider from Sheffield suffered serious injuries after falling about 100ft in the Peak District.

The man was rescued by Edale Mountain Rescue Team, with Yorkshire Air Ambulance called to transport him to hospital.

The incident happened on Tuesday, shortly before 7pm, at Bradwell Edge in the Hope Valley, a popular spot for paragliders.

The man was treated for his injuries at the scene before being airlifted to the city’s Northern General Hospital in Fir Vale.

A spokesman for the mountain rescue team said: “The man from Sheffield was located quickly by one of the team paramedics.

“He was treated for suspected chest and pelvic injuries before being carried by mountain rescue members to the helicopter.

“He was then transferred to the regional trauma centre in Sheffield.”
