Peak council’s £1.2m cuts plan
CUTS of almost £1.2 million are being made at a north Derbyshire council while fees and charges are going up to raise a further £232,000.
High Peak Council, which covers much of the Hope Valley, is having to make the changes to cope with pressures including a £362,000 reduction in Government grant, inflation forecast to cost £523,000 and reduced council tax income of £570,000.
Full details of ‘efficiencies and rationalisation’ in terms of job losses and which fees will rise - which could include charges at car parks - have yet to be revealed.
But a report shows the council, which has managed an £11.3m budget in 2012-13, still has to save a further £184,000 to balance the books.
The council’s budget is to be discussed at a meeting in Buxton, on Monday.
