A Rotherham man was this afternoon charged with murdering a guest house landlady in Bridlington.
John Heald, 53, of Foljambe Road, Rotherham, has also been charged with 10 counts of rape in South Yorkshire.
Heald is due to appear at Beverley Magistrates Court tomorrow.
Adrienne Gower, senior district crown prosecutor for CPS Yorkshire and Humberside, said: “The Crown Prosecution Service has been working closely with Humberside Police in connection with this case.
“Having carefully considered all of the evidence presented to us, we have concluded that there is sufficient evidence to charge John Heald with ten offences of rape in South Yorkshire on July 13, 2014 and the murder of Bei Carter in Bridlington on July 18, 2014.
“This defendant now stands charged with serious criminal offences and has the right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”
