New Sheffield world boxing champion Kell Brook is reported to have been stabbed in the leg while on holiday.

The 28-year-old was on holiday in Tenerife when the attack took place at around 6am this morning.

He sustained an injury to his leg and a cut to his arm.

Brook is reported to be in a stable condition in the Candelaria Hospital in Tenerife.

His condition is not thought to be life-threatening.

The stabbing severely jeopardises Brook’s first money-spinning IBF world title defence - pencilled in for December 6, at Sheffield Motorpoint Arena.

Even if the wound is not too serious, Brook would need a two month training camp to be fully ready.

Shortly after Brook’s epic points win over Shawn Porter in America, last month, his promoter Eddie Hearn told The Star the pressure was on Brook to perform even better and challenge the biggest names in sport and “deliver unification fights.”

He said the unbeaten Grenoside-based welterweight could not afford any slip-ups.

It is the second time that Brook has been stabbed.

He was injured as a 20-year-old after leaving a club in Spital Hill, Sheffield in 2007.
