Colleague of 11 years Sharon Pollard, a healthcare assistant, said Dr Eilbeck was an example of a ‘golden age’ of healthcare. She said: “She is extremely supportive and so caring. She always walked around the surgery with a big smile on her face. She knew all of her patients and all their family too, she really did represent the golden age.

“Dr Eilbeck used to work very long hours to make sure everything was just so. She will be missed but we all feel very lucky to have had her. She is truly amazing.”

Patient Simon Waller echoed the sentiment. He said: “I have known Dr Eilbeck since I was a nipper. She is an amazing doctor and always had a smile on her face. I wish her all the best in retirement.”

A message from a patient, posted on the surgery’s website, said: “You are an amazing and exceptional doctor. You are a true professional and a credit to the NHS. You are kind, caring, considerate, compassionate and you have tremendous empathy.

“Your friendly disposition means you always greeted your patients as one would greet a friend, with a smile and the words ‘nice to see you’. This was invariably followed by the words ‘sorry to keep you waiting’.

“And I know the patients didn’t mind waiting, for they knew how lucky they were to have a family doctor who was so supportive and showed kindness.”
