Sheffield neighbour from hell is evicted

A Sheffield council tenant who made her neighbours’ lives a misery for months has been evicted from her home.

Mum-of-two Rebecca Harrison, aged 23, played loud music through the night, allowed a mound of rubbish to pile up in her garden, and had a stream of men visiting her home in Meynell Road, Southey.

The rubbish attracted rats to the house and neighbours complained about the constant procession of male visitors and cars which they found disturbing and intimidating.

Sheffield Council said despite numerous warnings, offers of advice and support, removal of audio equipment and a fine, Harrison’s anti-social behaviour continued.

Neighbours told a judge at Sheffield County Court of the effect her behaviour had on them.

The judge found she breached her tenancy and granted the council an immediate possession order.

But Harrison refused to leave and was evicted by bailiffs on May 8.

She was also ordered to pay £2,393.90 costs.

Lorraine Greeves, from Sheffield Council, said: “The judge recognised Harrison’s behaviour had caused her neighbours sleepless nights and distress.”
