Chris Beech, who runs Beeches of Walkley, has used the blue and white striped bottle of Henderson’s Relish to add some spice to his limited edition products.

The sausage and burger will be on sale for Sheffield Food Festival this weekend, and also tie in with Sheffield Wednesday’s run to the Championship Play-Off final, which they will contest against Hull City on Saturday.

Chris, a life-long Owls fan, said: “Six years ago I invented the ‘Sheffield secret sausage’ for the food festival, which has Henderson’s Relish in.

“Whenever the festival comes around it’s the birthday of the sausage, and this year because it’s the play-offs I thought I would do a Sheffield Wednesday Wembley sausage and burger.”

Chris, a butcher in Walkley for 30 years, uses the blue and white striped bottle of Henderson’s Relish to give the special flavour - and he insists it tastes better than the red and white striped version. The Wednesday bangers and burgers have been flying off the shelves all week.

“The customers love it - well, the Wednesdayites do at least,” said Chris.

Although he will have to work on Saturday so can’t go to Wembley, Chris will be in front of the TV for the 5pm kick-off. And he is hopeful of a Wednesday win.

He said: “It’s brilliant to see them doing well. It would be nice to be in the Premier League if we can do it.

“I’m looking forward to the game.”
