Anne Turner’s hand is sparkling once again following an appeal in The Star to find her missing diamond ring.

The 57-year-old had been left devastated when she lost the ring, which has been in her family for four generations, after visiting a gym in Hackenthorpe on June 3.

She had put it in her pocket for fear of scratching it while she was working out but lost it between the gym and Asda in Chapeltown.

In a last ditch attempt to find it she contacted The Star to appeal for help.

“I know if I got another ring it just wouldn’t be the same. I feel like I have broken the chain,” Anne told The Star.

But three days after the story appeared Anne got a phone call from her gym, Achieve and Believe on Main Street, to say they had the ring. A Good Samaritan had found the ring in the yard outside and had handed it in.

“It is absolutely amazing. I didn’t think I would ever see it again,” said Anne, of Chapeltown, who had also put posters up about the missing ring,

“He’d seen the story in The Star and the posters and come forward.

“When I got a phone call from the gym to say someone had handed it in I couldn’t believe it.

“It’s back on my finger now and is never coming off – I don’t care if it gets scratched.”

Anne’s great-grandfather had the ring custom made for his wife in the early 1900s.

He was a buyer in the wool trade in Bradford and bought three diamonds for his wife which he decided to have put onto a gold band.

The ring was passed down to Anne’s grandmother and mother before she was given it around 15 years ago.

It is known in Anne’s family as the ‘crown jewels’ and the whole family was left devastated when it went missing.

“My mum and dad are so happy that we’ve found the ring,” added Anne.

“I gave the man a reward for handing it in. I can’t believe I’ve got it back.”
