Signs of discord over police badges

The South Yorkshire branch of the Police Federation criticised £75,607 being spent on new police station signs and police car markings, despite budget cuts. It could have paid for two full-time police officers for a year, said the branch.

Police and Crime Commissioner Shaun Wright ordered the work when elected in November 2012 to increase the visibility of police officers in communities.
