South Yorkshire yobs’ gang rape threat

Crime:Latest news.

Crime:Latest news.

A MAN has revealed he was threatened with gang rape after challenging a group of youths on a housing estate.

The claim was made by a resident from the Aston Park estate in Swallownest at a meeting of Rotherham Council’s Rother Valley West Area Assembly.

He said: “This gang of about 12 young teenage youths were on my drive and I told them to get off my property when they replied ‘do you want to get gang raped?’.

“I was gobsmacked by this reply and called the police but they had disappeared when the police arrived.”

Another resident told the meeting that youths regularly urinate on a fence near her home. There were complaints about youths on off-road motorbikes or skateboarding down drives on the estate.

Motorists were reportedly using the estate as a rat run and residents were being intimidated by yobs if they remonstrated with them.

More allegations were made about youths holding late night drinking sessions and damaging parked cars by throwing bottles and crab apples at them.

A Rotherham Council spokeswoman confirmed that Rother Valley West Area Assembly is organising a site visit to Aston Park, involving police and councillors, to meet local residents.

She said: “This was a horrendous and appalling threat to make and we do take issues like this very seriously.

“We would like to reassure local residents that the authority, along with partner organisations, will do all they can to alleviate the situation.”

Sgt Alistair Stuart, from the police team covering Swallownest, added: “We are aware of the incident. This area has been raised as a concern for anti-social behaviour by the community and will therefore remain as a priority.”
