Visitors got in a flap as thousands of plastic ducks took to the water at Endcliffe Park for the annual duck race.
The popular event, organised by volunteers from the Friends of Porter Valley, attracted about 4,000 spectators, eager for their yellow duck to be victorious.
Friends chairman Ann Le Sage said: “It was very successful. It was a very happy community event – I have never seen so many people picnicking down there.
“Children were in the water in T-shirts, shorts and little wellies, flicking the ducks along and having fun.
“There must have been an awful lot of wet children along the river bank by the end of the day!”
The annual event, which is now in its sixth year, has raised well over £7,000 for the Friends group.
