Mission Christmas, The Star-backed Hallam FM and Magic AM Cash For Kids gifts appeal, is on target to deliver 18,000 gifts this year.
But it still needs your help to hit the record-breaking number.
And today is the last day to drop off your gifts across the region.
Our Christmas campaign aims to deliver more than £800,000 worth of presents and raise £60,000 to distribute to children’s charities and vulnerable children in the region.
Last year it helped more than 17,000 children receive presents worth more than £610,000 in a record-breaking year.
Schools, businesses, organisations and individuals around the region are giving backing, with 210 supporters and 200 drop-off points this year.
Best Solicitors, key supporters, encouraged drop-offs at their Walk In Centre on Pinstone Street when they entertained customers with their version of Christmas song, Jingle Bells – watch their performance at thestar.co.uk/video.
Imogen Turner, aged 40, assistant manager at Best Solicitors Walk In Centre, said: “We’re supporting Mission Christmas this year – we want to tell everyone it’s such a good cause.
“Most of us have got families and we understand how important it is for children to have an exciting Christmas and we just wanted to get behind it, as local solicitors, to get in there and help everybody.”
Louise Davies, Cash For Kids Charity Manager, said: “We still particularly need gifts for babies and teenagers. Hopefully by the end of the week we should have got 18,000 presents out.
“It’s quite shocking but one in five children in our region actually live below the poverty line.
“As I speak to social workers who are coming in to collect these presents, it’s just harrowing what is actually happening in our region.”
