Sheffield was awash with white and red as hopeful fans packed into bars and pubs across the city for England’s opening World Cup clash with Italy.
There was a party atmosphere in many city centre bars with supporters bedecked in the flag of St George and some painting their faces.
In The Walkabout on West Street, Sheffield hundreds crammed in to watch the game with queues snaking around the block as revellers hoped to get in to watch Roy Hodgson’s men attempt to kick off their campaign in style.
As our video shows, supporters rocked the bar when Daniel Sturridge scored to level the match at 1-1, however Mario Ballotelli won it for the Italians to give England a mountain to climb if they are to progress from their group.
They next play Uruguay on Thursday, kick off 8pm.
