Young actors sought for panto

THE magic of Never Never Land comes to Rotherham this Christmas when Peter Pan gets set to bring festive joy to the Civic Theatre - and your child could be the star of the show.

Auditions will be taking place for the roles of Michael, John and the juvenile chorus for the show on Sunday, September 23, at Rotherham Town Hall.

Michael and John auditions will take place from noon to 2pm and juvenile dancer auditions from 2pm to 4pm.

Youngsters auditioning for Michael must be aged seven to nine with an approximate height of 4 ft 6ins or smaller. Those auditioning for the part of John should be aged 10 to 13, around five foot and a strong, confident actor who can dance and sing.

Young actors must not be scared of being flown on a high wire and must be available for all rehearsals and performances.

Those wanting to join the juvenile chorus must be at least six at the time of the first performance.

They must be a maximum height of 4ft 8ins and be strong all-round dancers in modern, jazz and ballet.

Auditionees must have stage presence and personality and be available for all rehearsals and performances.

Rotherham Theatres manager, Mark Scott, said: “Panto season is always a magical time at the Civic and the kids and cast we have taking part in the show always have a fantastic time.

“There’s a great family feeling among the cast, so, even though it’s hard work with all the performances, our past cast members have gone away with lots of great acting experience and happy memories.
