Chesterfield’s streets turned into a sea of pink on Sunday as hundreds of women took part in the annual Race for Life fundraiser.

An estimated 1,600 women and girls strode out for the much-loved charity challenge – raising about £100,000 for Cancer Research UK.

The event also gave the big-hearted ladies a chance to remember loved ones lost to cancer and celebrate the lives of people dear to them who have survived.

The fundraiser started in front of Chesterfield Town Hall on Rose Hill. The route took in much of the town centre before finishing in Queen’s Park.

Emma Colbourne, Chesterfield events manager for Cancer Research UK, said: “Everyone who took part in Race for Life has raised money for life-saving research will play a crucial role in helping more men, women and children survive cancer.

“They will be giving them the chance to have more time with the people they love and to create more precious memories together.”

Well done to everyone who took part.
