sheffield accountant Kevin Reaney will be one of the few people in the world to get his hands on Olympic gold this summer.

But the 29-year-old, of Shiregreen, isn’t a competitor at the London games.

He’s a volunteer with a very special role – carrying medals and bouquets to be presented to the jubilant winners.

Kevin has been chosen to perform the duties after applying to be a volunteer when he saw a flyer in a McDonald’s.

He said: “The role I am going to be in is within the awards ceremony team, so I’m going to be carrying the medals and flowers. I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve been quite fortunate in the role I’ve got.”

Kevin, who works at Carillion at Park Square, will work at Wembley Stadium where the football is being held.

He said: “It’s definitely going to be a bit different to my day job.”
