Most homes ready for digital TV

WITH just a fortnight to go until analogue TV starts being switched off across Sheffield and Chesterfield, latest research indicates nine out of ten homes in the area have gone digital, but thousands of viewers still need to get ready or risk having a blank screen.

Digital UK, the independent body in charge of the process, is now launching the final stage of its information campaign.

The first phase of the changeover starts in the early hours of Wednesday, August 10 when analogue BBC Two will be permanently switched off from the Sheffield and Chesterfield transmitters and their relays. Stage two starts in the early hours of Wednesday, August 24 when remaining analogue channels will be permanently switched off.
