SHEFFIELD’s former world mountain bike champion Steve Peat is swapping the race track for the golf course to support teenagers who are battling cancer.

The 37-year-old, from Chapeltown, and friends Max Feetham and Robert Copeland are organising a golf day at Hillsborough golf course on August 26 in aid of the Teenage Cancer Unit at Weston Park Hospital.

Inspired by relatives and friends affected by cancer, they have raised £44,000 for the cause since 2006 through the Wharncliffe Weekender, a weekend of mountain biking, racing, camping and live music.

The golf day costs £250 per team.
