LIBERAL Democrat ministers, MPs and activitists will be out and about in Sheffield over the weekend to try to win support for the coalition with the Tories and to back the party’s drive to hold on to control of the city council.
The “mass door-knock” has been organised by party president Tim Farron, and half of the party’s 57 MPs are expected to take part.
Norman Lamb MP, a key aide to Nick Clegg, said: “We are not just talking to ourselves.
“We are going out into communities in Sheffield - Nick and a number of ministers (will be) going out meeting residents, meeting groups, community groups over the course of the weekend.”.
Andrew Wiseman, the man in charge of organising the conference, predicted “lively debate”.
He said: “We are a mature party and conferences like this are an opportunity where ordinary members get the chance to have their say and ask questions.”
