Music festival to raise cash

AN ANNUAL music festival is to be held again this year to raise funds to restore the valuable Father Willis organ in Wentworth Parish Church.

Most of the original bellows have been replaced, but additional work now needs to be done to the pedal board and couplers.

The festival starts on Wednesday, September 26, with a concert by Thurnscoe Harmonic Male Voice Choir. The day before, Anne Applin and Geoffrey Pratley will perform a piano duet concert.

On September 28 The Emperor String Quartet will be appearing, and on Saturday 29 Jonathan Bielby will give an organ recital the Dore Gilbert and Sullivan Society Singers will perform.

The festival will conclude on October 13 with a concert by the Arioso Baroque Ensemble.
