THE managing director of a Sheffield company has signed his business up as the main sponsor of a charity race in memory of his father.
Nick Wilson, of Wilson Field Ltd, is supporting Neurocare’s Head Start 5km run at Rother Valley Country Park as a tribute to his dad Keith, who died in 2008 after being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour.
He was under the care of the neurosciences department at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, which is supported by the Sheffield charity and raises funds towards equipment and research.
Nick said: “When my father received his diagnosis it was absolutely devastating for my family.
“He died just months after the diagnosis and is very sorely missed.
“Supporting Neurocare in memory of my dad provides a lasting legacy to a wonderful man.
“It is very important to my mum that by supporting the charity we are helping to fund life-saving pieces of equipment which will make a difference to so many people’s lives.”
Employees at Wilson Field, which is based in Ecclesall Road South and specialises in business recovery and tackling insolvency and personal debt, are entering a team for the race and Nick is hoping to join them.
The event is on Sunday, April 17. Entrants can walk, jog or run around the course. Entry is £10 per person and free for under-fives.
