South Yorkshire’s largest Women’s Institute group – Seven Hills WI – is celebrating its fifth birthday.
It was formed in 2009 by friends Lindsay Garfitt, Jennifer Marsden and Kim Whelan under the banner of ‘Less jam and Jerusalem, more bellydancing and bellinis...’
Membership has grown to 135 members, aged 22 to 55, and celebrations were held at Electric Works in Sheaf Street in the city centre.
Group president Lindsay Garfitt, 29, said: “The past five years have been wonderful for Seven Hills WI and it was lovely to get our members together to celebrate the milestone with a special birthday party.”
After five years, Lindsay will step down this month to be replaced by Kirsty Bowen, Kim will be replaced as secretary by Laura Bainbridge.
