THE parents of three-year-old Ollie Saxton, who has cerebral palsy, have raised the money to send him to St Louis in America for an operation to help him to walk for the first time.

After revealing two weeks ago that they urgently needed to meet a £27,000 hospital bill, Rachel Tinsley and her husband Russell Saxton, of Intake, received more than £10,000 of donations.

Now Ollie can go to the children’s hospital in America in January. “It’s been amazing,” said Rachel, 33, a fitness instructor at Ponds Forge sports centre. “Everyone has been so generous.”

She added: “We’ve still got a long way to go but at least we know the operation will happen.”
