A TOTAL of 140 jobs will be created when Marks & Spencer’s new store at Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre opens this month.
Building work began last year and shoppers have been speculating for months when the store would open.
Now the work is coming to an end and the company has confirmed the store will open on Thursday, July 26, when store manager Neil Hansell and his staff will perform a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10am.
The massive store will offer womenswear, menswear, lingerie, childrenswear and beauty departments in addition to a food hall and in-store bakery.
The new 43,000 sq ft store will also benefit from a 100-seat M&S Café offering a variety of food, as well as speciality teas and coffees served by specially trained baristas.
And on the opening day shoppers will be treated to a full day of celebrity entertainment, including an in-store DJ and the chance for customers to win a share of £1,000 in M&S Gift cards between midday and 2pm.
Mr Hansell said: “We are delighted to be so close to opening the brand new store, which will provide customers with the very best that M&S has to offer.
“A fantastic shopping experience will be available in-store, offering a great choice of fabulous fashion ranges, including per una, Indigo and Blue Harbour.
“Our light and spacious café will also serve as the perfect place to relax or catch up with friends and family.”
Shoppers at the new store will be invited to support the new M&S ‘Shwop’ scheme by donating an unwanted item of clothing in store every time they buy a new one.
The items will then be donated to Oxfam and re-sold to raise money for people living in poverty.
The store will open 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 7pm on Saturdays and 10am to 4.30pm on Sundays.
