Pat loves been taken to the cleaners for 50 years
Pat Sears who has worked for Johnson Dry Cleaners on Pinstone Street for 50 years
PAT Sears started in dry cleaning at the age of 15 – and found it was a smart move.
She stayed with Johnsons Dry Cleaners since that first job at the Ecclesall Road branch and is now a part-time assistant manager at the dry cleaning premises in Pinstone Street, opposite the Peace Gardens, looking back on 50 years. In that time, she estimates she has ironed more than 76,000 shirts.
She said: “I genuinely love coming into work each day because no two days are ever the same.
“Obviously things have changed quite a lot since I started with the company in terms of processes and technology, but the thing that I enjoy the most is dealing with the public, and that is the element of the job that is still the same today as it was 50 years ago.”
Pat, who has been given a £500 high street gift voucher, added: “While retirement is a consideration for the future, for now my focus is being part of a dedicated team and continuing to serve the local community.”
