IT’S Paris or bust for pedalling pastor Andrew Rashford-Hewitt.
Andrew, who is Pastor of the Carterknowle, Manor and Barnsley Seventh-day Adventist churches, is cycling from London to Paris to raise money for ADRA UK.
The charity is currently helping people in the drought stricken Horn of Africa.
The Pastor, who lives in Chapeltown, was today joining 14 other people on the big ride.
The money he raises will also be used by the charity to help people in more than 120 countries through education, better farming techniques, medical help, emergency relief, food provision and advocacy from oppression.
Andrew has been riding to work every day to prepare for the ride of more than 200 miles, .
He said: “The hills of Sheffield will have definitely done their part to prepare me - at times it felt as if they were killing me.
“The other week I cycled from Hillsborough to Manchester across the Snake Pass and found out that it really has a sharp bite. At the age of 43 the ride to Paris will be most definitely the most challenging ride that I will have undertaken to date.”
Andrew has been sponsored by church members, neighbours, friends and family, teachers and parents of the Windmill Hill school Chapeltown.
