Teenage sweethearts Malcolm and Gwladys Hunt have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary at Sheffield’s Loxley Park care home.

The couple tied the knot on January 13, 1945, at Uppingham Road Baptist Church, Leicester, where they met as teenagers.

At the time of their marriage they were both employed in war work – Gwladys, aged 91, was a telephonist who sent coded telegrams, and Malcolm, 93, was engineer working on the design and manufacture of anti-tank gun components.

The couple enjoyed a family celebration with their three children and their families, before having a buffet lunch and a concert with friends at Loxley Park.
