THE chance to learn pole dancing can be added to the shopping list at Castle Market.
Mother-of-three Gemma Hopkins, aged 27, has taken over a shop on the top level, where she is offering classes that aim to “empower” women and boost their confidence.
She said: “Pole dancing is a great way to keep fit and it also builds your confidence. And it isn’t just for young, beautiful women, although they’re welcome to join us.”
Gemma, who lives in Pitsmoor, started taking pole dancing lessons four years ago and began running her own sessions last year.
“I like the fact that I’m not the traditional image of a pole dancer. I’m a size 16 but I’m fit and healthy. As I’m different to how people expect, people don’t feel intimidated walking into my classes.”
Classes are aimed at women and men, although all sessions are single sex. They cost from £4.
