A woman’s rape after two masked men threatened her with a knife in a South Yorkshire house has sparked a police appeal.

The woman was threatened with the blade before she was subjected to the serious sexual assault by one man at a property in Maltby on Wednesday night at around 6.40pm.

Both men were wearing masks and had entered the house.

South Yorkshire Police said it was launching a public appeal as it investigates the report of rape.

Detective Inspector Simon Palmer, who is leading the investigation, said: “We understand that this in an incredibly distressing incident and specialist officers are supporting the victim and her family.

“I can reassure members of the public that a thorough investigation is underway including detailed forensic work, house to house enquiries and we are reviewing CCTV footage of the area.”

Police are urging people who were in Maltby on Wednesday night and saw or heard anything they think could help with the investigation to get in touch by calling 101 and quoting incident number 894 of October 28.

The man who is alleged to have carried out the assault is described as around 5ft 10-11ins tall, wearing a light coloured jumper, blue jeans, a black belt and white trainers.

The second man was wearing a black hooded top and blue jeans.
