Teachers sometimes complain that their pupils never want to get out of bed.
But at Westbourne School in Broomhill staff were more than happy when the children decided to take a laid-back approach to the school day.
For the first Great Westbourne Bed Race 10 pupil teams and a staff team put on fancy dress before taking to their beds – specially constructed from trolleys donated by B&Q. Then it was off on a challenging course as the teams raised money for the school’s charity of the year, St Wilfrid’s Centre for Vulnerable Adults.
“It was a great start to our fundraising,” said teacher and event organiser Charlie Allison.
