FORGET sweating it out on a treadmill - forest rangers are giving South Yorkshire the chance to shift the pounds in the great outdoors.

The Forestry Commission is inviting people to give back to Mother Nature while exercising with its woodland workout project.

Hannah Darcel, a ranger with the Forestry Commission, said: “There are loads of tasks that need doing, from removing ragwort, pruning, thinning birch and creating paths. It’s a great way to stay active and meet new friends and has a really positive impact on your sense of wellbeing.”

Fortnightly sessions on take place every Thursday from 9.30am to 12.30pm until the end of the year.
