STUDENTS from Barnsley Sixth Form College led a project to promote reading.

A series of workshops were planned, developed and led by 10 A-Level students.

The aim was to promote the summer reading challenge for Barnsley libraries.

The students worked with four classes from Doncaster Road Primary and Wilthorpe Junior Schools.

The workshops included discussions about the student’s favourite books and live readings to the groups.

The primary schools also created artwork with a storyline theme which will be displayed in Barnsley Library over the summer.

Pam Sandals, tutorial learning mentor, said: “The primary pupils thoroughly enjoyed it.”
