Former Sheffield Wednesday striker David ‘Bronco’ Layne tied the knot with sweetheart Pat for the second time after the couple went their separate ways for the best part of a decade.
They said their vows again at the Town Hall Register Office before a reception at the Cross Keys pub in Handsworth. “It was a great day, really tremendous,” said the former Owl, who played in the early 1960s.
David, 75, and Pat, 71, married first time in 1966, and had three children, Lisa, Jacqueline and Mike. It was Lisa’s wedding in Greece seven years ago that brought them back together. “We talked and really got on well and it all went from there,” said David, a pub landlord after his football career.
“Of course the children and the rest of the family are delighted that we are together again. They’ve not made too much fuss, but I think they’re all thrilled to bits.”
The couple live in Darnall.
