Mountain rescue teams went into action in the Peak District after a 44-year-old man twisted his knee, aggravating an old injury, while walking up Grindsbrook Clough last Saturday afternoon. Volunteers who had been fundraising in Edale and taking part in the Dove Holes Carnival carried him on a stretcher to Edale.

On Bank Holiday Monday night, rescue teams from Buxton, Edale, Kinder and Glossop were called when a 67-year-old man became lost in thick mist, heavy rain and the darkness. He was able to describe his location on his mobile phone and was found by a search dog unit in the Kinder Low End area.

Meanwhile, a 42-year-old Sheffield man was rescued by Derby Mountain Rescue Team after falling 25 feet from High Tor at Matlock Bath last Saturday. He was flown by helicopter to hospital in Nottingham.
