A new company is aiming to prove it can float Sheffield visitors’ boats - or barges, that is.

Hotel Houseboats, based in the city centre’s Victoria Quays, has just completed the refurbishment of its two vessels – Millie Grace and Laila Mai.

Each comes complete with a full-size shower, kitchen and flat-screen TVs.

The firm was set up in 1999 by Sheffield couple Maggie and Terry Hall, before they passed it on to friends.

Businesswoman Mel Perry took over in 2011 and set about securing new, wide-beamed boats to meet the demands of modern houseboat guests.

There has already been interest from guests who stayed in Sheffield’s historic canal basin during Mr and Mrs Hall’s time at the helm.
