IT’S a story worth telling - and now that’s just what’s going to happen.
Sheffield-based charity Football Unites, Racism Divides has been selected for the Untold Stories scheme which matches small charities with top filmmakers to create movies that demonstrate the impact of their work.
FURD is one of 25 charities selected to take part in the UK-wide scheme. The films will be broadcast on national television channel Community, presented by Jon Snow.
FURD believes football, the world’s most popular game, can help to bring together people from different backgrounds, breaking down barriers created by ignorance or prejudice.
“The charity works to increase the participation of people from ethnic minorities in football, as players, spectators or employees,” said FURD spokesman Howard Holmes.
“We have always wanted to have something that effectively demonstrates the impact of our work, but did not have the budget for a professionally made and edited film. We look forward to being able to use the final film to fundraise and build support for FURD’s vital cohesion work.”
