Sheffield’s first drive-in cinema was the word as hundreds of people enjoyed an al fresco movie in the city centre.

Viewers who headed to the first sell-out screening of Grease got into the spirit by dressing as Pink Ladies, while rollerskating waitresses serving street food, the Lord Mayor of Sheffield and classic cars added extra style to the evening.

Karen Thorpe, director of organisers Movie Park, said: “A lot of people really got into the spirit of it, like the Pink Ladies.

“It was just great and we had fantastic feedback.”

Movie Park is to hold more events this year - with screenings of Pulp Fiction on May 31 and Top Gun on June 28 already in the pipeline for the venue on Milton Street.

The firm is working with Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice as a charity partner.
