Hold on to your chopsticks - the title of best takeaway in Yorkshire has been awarded to a Sheffield venue.
Sushi restaurant Sakushi on Campo Lane, which also delivers around 250 takeways a week, won the prize at the Best British Takeaway Awards.
Judges loved the ‘quality and diversity of the Japanese food available at Sheffield’s Sakushi restaurant, which has been in business for seven years.’
They added: “Sakushi go out of their way to service special requests and dietary requirements and are proud of their system for handling any customer concerns.
“Sakushi is hungry to evolve and has completely embraced the online world with lively and active Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts as well as a great, interactive website.”
Sakushi was Sheffield’s first contemporary sushi restaurant and brought the concept of kaiten conveyor belt dining, where people take dishes from the belt to eat as they wish, to the city.
Owner Stuart Macfarlane, speaking after the awards at the Savoy Hotel in London, said the restaurant was on a roll after success at the Eat Sheffield awards 2015.
He added: “I am extremely happy, within a few weeks we have won Best Asian restaurant in Sheffield and Best Takeaway in Yorkshire and Humber.
“It shows how hard everyone works in such a competitive market and we hope to improve even more in the future.”
