Sheffield residents who own their own home could live up to 20 years longer than those who do not, according to a new report.

New figures show that homeowners in Yorkshire and the Humber live until 80-years-old on average, while those who do not have an average life expectancy of 60.

The HomeOwners Alliance, who commissioned the research, said it is worrying that home ownership is declining in the wake of the figures, peaking in 2002 at 69.7 per cent down to 63.8 per cent in April-June 2016.
