FROM Brick Lane to Broomhill - young Sheffield entrepreneur Joshua Bonney is bringing a touch of metropolitan cool to the Steel City.
The 19-year-old from Dore has just opened his first shop, called Inherited, on Glossop Road and has ploughed £3,500 of his savings into the venture.
Joshua’s main lines are independent clothing labels direct from East London - and he says he’ll be back to the capital every weekend for the latest items.
“I sold half of my stock in the first two days so I was back down to London for more,” he said.
“I’ve spent a lot of time in Brick Lane and I was inspired to bring all that back to Sheffield - there’s nothing like it up here.”
The former Silverdale pupil is also stocking items like cushions, shorts, rucksacks, artwork, jewellery and limited edition trainers, and although the shop is perfectly placed for the student market, Joshua insists there’s something for everyone.
“Previously I was working at the Greedy Greek Deli on Sharrowvale Road, but I was also working on market stalls all over the country,” he said.
“The reaction to the shop has been brilliant. People like the fact it’s quite minimal so you feel you’ve looked at everything, they say it’s reasonably priced and is something just like they always wanted.
“I’ll be going back to London every week to hand pick the latest stock - it won’t be bought in bulk over the internet, which is what you see at some places.”
