A TEENAGE clarinet player from Sheffield has won the title of the city’s Young Musician of the Year.
Ashley Garfitt, aged 18, from Beighton, will receive the honour tomorrow (Friday) at St Nicholas Church in High Bradfield, where he will perform a recital.
The talented musician is a Year 13 pupil at Mount St Mary’s College in Spinkhill.
Ashley said: “I love music and Mount St Marys has helped me develop my skills as a musician. I’m thrilled to receive such a prestigious award.”
The teenager – principal clarinettist in the City of Sheffield Youth Orchestra – will also be given a £100 cheque and signed certificate from Julian Lloyd Webber.
