Sheffield leisure centre in the running for £25,000 grant

Stocksbridge Community Leisure Centre is in the running to win £25,000.

If successful in its bid for the cash from insurance firm Aviva it will be used to improve changing facilities and make the more accessible for disabled users.

Aviva is running a competition with communities urged to vote for projects.

Those with the most votes by May 30 will go through to stage two, where a panel of judges will decide the winners.

A spokesman for Stocksbridge Community Leisure Centre said: “Over 3,000 votes have so far been cast for the centre - one of the highest number in the competition, but there is still time to increase this.”
