Parents in Sheffield will be forking out hundreds of pounds on keeping their children entertained over Easter.

A new report done on behalf of Travelodge has claimed on average parents from the city will spend more than £500 on paying for day trips and holiday breaks for their families over the Easter holidays.

The study of 2,500 parents highlighted that this Easter the average family in Sheffield will fork out £414.32 on a short Easter break, and £107.28 on three day trips which cost £35.76 each.

This is behind the national average spend of £574.03.

Of those questioned for the survey, 34 per cent of people from Sheffield said they would be taking a break in the UK, with popular destinations including Scarborough, Whitby and Blackpool.

Shakila Ahmed, Travelodge spokeswoman, said: “We have seen a growing trend for more British families opting for several short breaks during the school holidays rather than one big traditional holiday.”
