Sheffield rescue workers show off skills at Emergency Services Fun Day

Excited children enjoyed learning what it was like to be a rescue worker today during the Emergency Services Fun Day in Sheffield.

Thousands of people passed through the gates of the Niagara Conference Centre in Wadsley Bridge during the event, to meet local police officers, ambulance crews and firefighters.

As well as numerous displays and demonstrations, visitors enjoyed a range of games, stalls and rides.

Peter Darling, an organiser of the fun day, said: “The day is all about inviting people to meet the local emergency services and to learn more about what they do.

“Highlights include the dog display, fire demonstrations and the police helicopter landing.

“The little ones really enjoy climbing aboard police cars, ambulances and fire engines.”
