WHEN Mothiur Rahman Shahin hosts a dinner party you’ve just got to be there.
And that’s exactly what happened when Mr Shahin, owner of the Chutney Restaurant in White Lane, Gleadless Town End, announced he was to throw an Iftar party.
Iftar, an evening meal which marks the end of a day’s fast during the holy period of Ramadan, is practised by Muslims throughout the world.
Here in Sheffield, Mr Shahin wanted to share the experience with his fellow city folk - whatever their faith or background.
He invited a host of dignitaries, VIPs and others to join him at the restaurant for a slap-up meal of the finest Bangladeshi cuisine.
Guests included South Yorkshire Police Chief Constable David Crompton, Clive Betts MP, Lord Mayor Coun John Campbell and Lord Ahmed of Rotherham.
