A new extension to an iconic Sheffield building has won a top architectural prize.
The new entrance to Sheffield Cathedral has given been given a 2015 RIBA National Award by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in recognition of its excellence.
Judges praised the Gateway Project by Thomas Ford and Partners.
They said: “The high quality craftsmanship and expert use of materials make this a reorganisation and refurbishment of the highest quality.”
A total of 37 buildings across the UK have received 2015 RIBA National Awards and the shortlist for the RIBA Stirling Prize, for the UK’s best building of the year, will be drawn from these winners.
