Poppy collectors are celebrating their 20th year supporting the Royal British Legion in a Sheffield supermarket.

Collectors have seen the number of people donating money in Sainsbury’s at Crystal Peaks increase over the years.

Phillip Thickett, aged 59, of Hackenthorpe, has been a poppy collector for 19 years. He said: “I have seen more and more people donating and also people donating more and more money to the Legion for its life-changing work.”

Alongside him is Mark Ellwood, 43, of Westfield, who started collecting for the Legion in his early 20s.
