Sheffield tavern revival gets the go-ahead

Plans to revive a former pub as a family restaurant in Sheffield have been given the go-ahead by councillors.

The scheme, for the disused Middlewood Tavern, on Middlewood Road, involves some demolition work, as well as creating an extension to provide a function room and living accommodation for the venue’s manager.

The pub was badly affected by the floods of 2007 and closed shortly after. Planning officers said there were ‘significant benefits’ to relaunching the tavern.
